Big Screens in the City – AVM and PSCo at the Bank of China
AVM and PSCo have successfully installed a Panasonic 103 inch plasma screen within the Bank of China’s impressive new headquarters in the City of London.
IT and audio visual consultants, Coleman Bennett International, designed the systems that were implemented by AVM in these prestigious new premises, including the AV solutions for the vast new Boardroom, ten different meeting rooms, and a number of executive offices. The 103” plasma screen was specified for the Boardroom and AVM contracted PSCo for specialist help on this complex installation. AVM Account Director Bob Neil explains:
“The Bank of China wanted an innovative system that would solve their audio visual requirements and also blend in with the incredible interiors created for their executive floor. The 103” plasma was chosen as the most suitable option for the Boardroom and amazingly the room had the space to house it. The other options considered included rear projection, but were less appealing.
In addition, the Boardroom has spectacular views across the City of London, and closing the blinds to facilitate projection would take away some of the impact of this fantastic space. The 103” plasma performs well in high ambient light environments and, as this was not an issue, aesthetically it was the preferred choice. The overall standard of the fit-out at the Bank of China is exceptional, and the 103” was the perfect product to complement this high standard.
For us at AVM, the priority is to coordinate every project to ensure we deliver to our clients on time and within their budget, and working with partners such as PSCo to bring specialist knowledge and technical support is key to our achievement.”
PSCo’s Product Manager, Mark Flowers, says:
“This was a complex installation. It was clear from our site survey, that we could not simply transport the screen to the seventh floor through the building. Instead we used the external freight elevator to hoist the screen, in its bespoke build flight case, up to the seventh floor and in through the window.
This project demonstrates the fantastic capabilities of the Panasonic 103”. The system includes Video Conferencing, which requires both HD content and HD live video to be displayed on the screen simultaneously. For a Video Conferencing suite to be effective it is essential that the screen is versatile and able to deliver high performance. The system also allows for up to six laptop inputs, ideal for presentations and other data images from visiting delegates. In addition, the screen can be used to display HD video content via a Blu-ray player and TV input with one Chinese channel. This is all controlled by a Crestron control system that operates all AV and lighting in the room, including twelve microphones connecting to the Video Conferencing system.”
AVM, headed up by Project Manager Nico Kamffer, also installed 46” and 52” LCD displays in eight executive offices and the office of the CEO, as well as AV into the restaurant area and games room. This marks the beginning of a strong ongoing relationship with the Bank of China, as they have trained fifteen of the Bank’s staff to use each new product that has been installed, and plan to support the AV and Video Conferencing systems going forward.
Bank of China Project Manager, Sharon Scanlan, says:
“We needed audio visual solutions that befitted not only the prestigious environment of the Bank of China meeting spaces, but that equally matched our aspirations with regard to functionality. AVM has been highly professional, delivering every requirement within the agreed time frames and working with the other suppliers on this project to ensure it was carried out efficiently and to the highest standards. The 103” screen in the Boardroom is a real highlight in our new offices, and are the perfect products for our needs.”
