Why Video

infrIncrease user confidence, user adoption and ultimately return on investment with AVM’s video focussed Intelligent ISDN service. This service uniquely concentrates on minimising connection failure when video conferencing over ISDN. We provide real time support to help solve any problems that arise and deliver extremely competitive call rates (AVM is an Ofcom approved Telco).

Features of Intelligent ISDN:

Provides a dedicated telephone support service for those experiencing difficulties making ISDN calls
Based on years of user feedback, we ensure that we only select the most reliable suppliers for any given destination
If failures occur, our engineers perform real time tests and switch service to an alternative carrier (where available)
Calls over AVM’s Intelligent ISDN are typically half the price charged by BT.

Intelligent ISDN can be accessed by simply inserting an indirect code into your ISDN codecs or via a direct IP link to AVM’s hosted Video Gateway service.

infrastructure from ISDN to IP, or looking to improve your videoconferencing experience across your organisation with suppliers and customers, AVM not only understands your video conferencing hardware requirements, but also appreciates the implications of introducing an application such as video to your communications infrastructure.

By connecting to the AVM network you can learn about what types of networks exist and how they interact with each other and discover how you can avoid the traditional problems associated with working across networks.

AVM's video network is an independent and extremely powerful global IP network that can connect you to any type of network and deliver QoS (quality of service) across the globe. Our network provides customers with completely integrated video conferencing network solutions over Layer 2, MPLS, IP or ISDN, embracing video communications.

We offer three types of networks services connections:

Video ISDN - The Video ISDN connection allows AVM Vision to take your existing video unit, connected to existing ISDN lines and route your calls into and over our video network.

Video DSL – The Video DSL connections gives businesses the ability to directly connect into the video network, using basic telephone lines upgraded  for video.

Video Fibre - The Video Fibre connections give business the guaranteed bandwidth that multiple video conferencing units at one location require.

These services provide you with a connection to the AVM network

Our network services, in combination with managed services, provide a best of breed video networking solution and is fully scalable to as many sites as you require. It also means choosing the best level of support for each of your sites to optimise your operation, while minimising your operating costs.

Recommended if your company has:

Two or more offices
A network built for data where video will detrimentally impact its effectiveness
A shortage of in-house network skills
An issue over the cost of employing someone to maintain and update the system
A concern about the capital cost of upgrading your network, whenever that may prove necessary.

Managed Services

High quality options exist and can be very powerful

Unfortunately not many people have experienced good quality personal video, instead believing that personal video is restricted to low resolution / small image PC applications. While laptop video is a highly valuable tool for the mobile worker and is very cost effective for distributing video throughout the organisation, high quality personal video is a much more powerful tool that can change the way in which managers operate and organise their business.

Unified Communications

Whichever quality of experience is appropriate for the user, businesses may want to consider integrating personal video with other personal communications solutions, such as presence, instant messaging and desktop sharing to create a “unified communications” platform. As a Cisco partner, AVM has a deep knowledge of Cisco’s unified communications and collaboration solutions. In addition, AVM Vision has extensive experience of Microsoft’s OCS / Lync platform, which we provide as a managed service.

Correct configuration will make a big difference to adoption

Choosing the right software and hardware combinations, including the “small” items such as camera, monitor(s) and headset, can make a huge difference to the user experience, including:

Eye contact
Being able to hear a ringer when a call is incoming (and you don’t have your headset on!)
Accommodating desktop sharing and a quality video session simultaneously
General usage fatigue levels
